QLC+ can be used for a wide variety of usages.
If you tell us what you need to do, then we can suggest which hardware you will need.

Yeah but how many universes ?
Do you need to play audio/video ?
Do you use external controllers (MIDI, OSC, etc..) ?
I would say a standard setup could be:
- a fairly recent Mac (those based on Intel CPU)
- a USB DMX Pro adapter (DMXKing, Enttec, etc)

In my experience the performance is most dependent on the DMX interface. QLC+ is not resource intensive but smooth updates to DMX output (during crossfades, etc.) is more a function of the quality of the interface. I have a couple of cheap enttec clones and an Enttec pro Mk2. There is a noticeable difference in the update speeds and smoothness of the fades when using the pro mk2 over the cheap clones.
Of course, I am not doing audio or video from QLC so YMMV if using those capabilities. I have a separate system dedicated to audio/video. I have managed to integrate them using OSC which is very cool.
