Remapping, how to use it

Hi,
I use QLC+ for a while but for simple project so far.
For my last project I try to use for the first time the remapping fonction.
I have 13 dimmers (generic) and 1 moving head that not belongs to me.
I create this project with a mac quantum profile. But I never have it : sometime I have a mac700 or Robe DL4X or whatever. Moreover, Due to the specifications of the locations we play, the dimmers and circuits are different each time. I would like to gain time to prepare my show.
So that I would like to use the remapping fonction. This could allow to make a few changes instead of creating a new show each time. I've read the user manual and I think I understand the basics.
I open my original file with the devices, fonctions, etc I had for the creation show.
I use remapping key on the "devices" window. I add my remapped devices on the right part with the "+" key : 13 dimmers with the same adress (from 1 to 13) and the movinghead (a mac viper in this specific case) with the same beginning address (101). Then I remap the devices, dimmers (for example dimmer 1 of the left window and dimmer 2 on the right window then the "2 green arrows" key) and moving head mannually. On each channel appears a black link connecting the channels. Then I click "OK".
But it seems not to work properly.
For example I link dimmer 1 to dimmer 2. But when I use dimmer 1, it still controls "outpout dimmer 1". I was expecting this dimmer to control "outpout dimmer 2". It's the same for the moving head : no change. What am I doing wrong? Or is there something I don't understand?
One more thing, when I open the file again (name(remapped)) is there any way to see the remapping?
I really need help to understand.
Thanks

Did you check through DMX output?

When you press the OK button - the whole project is translated to this new environment...

When you use dimmer 1 - it will be dimmer 1 but now dimmer 1 is at DMX address 2 <- this as a result of the remapping

NOTE: if you forget to remap a fixture all functions inside your project using this fixture will be 'lost'

Thanks for your answer.
I've tested the DMX output. But I was testing with the "traditional desk" (french to english translation) and I think I've made a mix in my head. I've check with another project working with generic dimmers only. I've checked at the scenes after remapping and they were changed.
I didn't really understand the way it was working ; now I am, I hope.
Then :
When the project is remapped
- when for example, I see dimmer 1 on my screen it is dimmer 2 for my physical dimmers.
- I have to remapp all the fixtures of the original Mac Quantum with the channels of the Mac Viper. If I forgot 1 there will be blood.
- The project now includes Mac Viper and Mac Quantum has disappeared.

some questions :
-What happens if some of the Mac Viper fixtures are not connected (In my logic no problem)?
-Can I go back and unremapp a remapped project? I explain : I forgot a fixture doing the remapping but I've changed some scenes and chasers. What's the best way? Do I have to do it again from the original non remapped file?

I try tomorow the remapping in real life... 13 dimmers and a Mac Viper Profile. But I have a 18 minutes show allready programmed with something like 25 channels in it; I think I have to fingercross to make the 2 moving head fit eachother. But If not remmaping will help me a lot to gain time.
Thanks for your help!

Make sure you have a valid 'master' backup before doing conversions...
If in fault -> go back to this master backup and redo.

If you have functions programmed with fixtures which are not present in the remapped version -> these functions will be deleted.

Since you are only working with dimmers it won't be too hard to check if everything is working allright.

So ... Good luck
