I'm new to QLC+, have read all the documentation, and have watched the couple hours of YouTube tutorials on the software. I'm running into a problem that just does not make sense to me, and am at wit's end, so hopefully someone can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Here's what I've done:
1) Setup two LED RGB par can fixtures in the software (mine are cheap graci-lite fixtures, created a definition of them using the fixture editor, and they work well in QLC+).
2) Imported an audio file
3) Created a scene with both RGB fixtures were selected and set to 'Red'. Lights respond properly during editing of the scene.
4) Created an identical scene as the one above, but set the color to 'Blue'.
5) Created a couple of other color scenes, including 'Green' and 'Pink'. I only mention this because of a symptom I am having later.
6) In the Show Manager, I created a new show, and imported the audio track I loaded in step 2 into it.
7) I created a sequence, and added the 'Red' scene as the first step, holds its duration for 575ms, added the 'Blue' scene as a 2nd step, also for 575ms, and repeated this process for about 20 steps.
8) When I put QLC into playback mode and run it, the lights behave as expected. Awesome. I re-enter edit mode, save the show, exit the software and call it a day.
-- Fast forward approx 15 hours ---
I return to QLC+ and load the show.
I switch to the show manager, put the software in playback mode, and hit play. NOTHING HAPPENS WITH THE LIGHTS. They are on but not changing from Red/Blue like yesterday. I go back into edit mode.
I go to the function editor tab, select the 'Red' scene, and the lights do NOT turn on there, either. I check the sliders on each tab, and ALL of them are set to zero. I remember what channels I had selected to manipulate for each scene, but they are all zero. The same is true for the Blue scene. I slide the sliders back to where they should be (Dimmer @ 255, Blue @ 255 for the Blue scene, and Dimmer @ 255 and Red @ 255 for the Red Scene). The lights respond as expected.
I go back to the show, enter playback mode, press play, and the lights and sequence happens properly.
ODDLY, scenes that are NOT used in a show (sequence) remember the DMX values per channel, and when I click into the scene while in edit mode, they respond correctly, which leads me to believe it's something I'm doing wrong when I setup the sequence... but I honestly have no idea what that may be.
This happens EVERY time I restart the software. Scenes that are used in a sequence that is used in a show have all of their channel values set back to zero. Every time. I've even created a new show file and the result is the same.
I'm running QLC+ 4.10.4.
Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Ian

I don't use sequences so I don't have first hand knowledge.
Nevertheless, it seems that once you create sequence from a scene, you must edit the values in the sequence and do not touch the scene.
The scene is used just for selecting channels for the sequence.
This is pretty common problem as you can see by searching the forum.

Yeah, I've seen other peoples issues but this is slightly different (at least I *think* so, lol).
The problem revolves around it working fine, then something changes and it breaks - and the only thing I do is exit the software and come back later.
QLC+ will be an unacceptable solution if I have to go edit sequences and scenes every time it starts up... and I honestly quite like it other than this, so I'd love to understand what I'm not doing right.
I've attached my show as an example.

Hi,
Thanks for sharing the workspace.
- Once a sequence has been attached to a scene, do NOT use the scene as standalone. It's not a scene anymore, it's a sequence container.
- To change the values of a sequence step, first click on the sequence, and then click on the STEP of the sequence.
- If a step is not selected, the changes will get lost.
Example: you want to edit "Blue Scene"/"New Sequence 19".
1- Select "New Sequence 19", this will open 2 editors: a chaser editor that contains the sequence steps, and a scene editor
2- click on the first step of the chaser editor, this will load the values of the first step into the scene editor. (they are all 0 for now)
3- move some values around
4- save workspace, reload, select new sequence 19, SELECT THE FIRST STEP -> the values you have entered are here.

Okay, I understand that and how it works now.
The next question I have then regards chasers. If you look at my workspace, you'll see a chaser called 'Prince Red/Blue Chase', and each step of that calls either 'Red Scene' or 'Blue Scene'. Because of the problem this thread is about, it completely breaks this chaser and eliminates nearly all of the re-use of scenes that could be, which equals a lot more work.
Is it just advised that if I'm sequencing against songs using shows to use nothing but sequences and do everything the long way?
Thanks for all the help, the community support is 1/2 the reason why I'm loving this software (mostly )
