Hoping someone can help out a lighting newbie. I'm trying to get one light working with QLC+ 4.
MacOS 14.5, M3 MacBook Pro
Light: UKING LED PAR 36, set to DMX mode, d001
Interface: FTDI USB cable, with latest FTDI MacOS driver installed per instructions (1.4.30, 2024-05-04)
Light is setup in Fixtures, Inputs/Outputs is set to the correct output, DMX protocol DMX4ALL
However, moving sliders in Simple Desk gives no illumination (at all) in Design or Operate Modes.
Any ideas?
First steps with QLC+, DMX, FTDI, MacOS - no illumination - any ideas?

FTDI USB cable and DMX4ALL doesn't sound right to me.
Which DMX adapter are you exactly using?
Also, where did you find instructions that told you to install drivers for macOS FTDI interface? Not mine I believe...

Hi and thanks for replying.
DMX4ALL was the protocol selected (automatically) by QLC+ 4 for the FTDI USB Output, I noticed this when I selected the Output.
It is this adapter: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07W5KH86P? ... title&th=1
Attempting to work out what I had done wrong, I read the documentation and followed the advice here https://docs.qlcplus.org/v4/plugins/dis ... vcp-driver to block the driver. The file referred to, D2xxHelper, I couldn't see on the FTDI website, but the latest driver was there for ARM Macs, 1.4.30. I could easily uninstall the driver, the instructions were very clear, but that would get me back to where I was ...

That looks like the classic Open DMX clone and should be detected as such. If not, select the "Open TX" protocol.

Thank you very much! I changed it to Open TX and it works now
I also deleted the FTDI driver files as the FTDI website says that their drivers and Apples happily co-exist, it still works
. I think I may have mis-read the online documentation about that.
I was experiencing flickering, but read elsewhere on the forums that reducing the DMX Frame Frequency might help and it did! I'm a happy novice lighting designer
Thanks again. I'm enjoying learning something that I've admired for a long time
