I have been watching the various posts related to version 4.13.0/.1 not starting with great interest and hoping a solution would be found.
Unfortunately the various workaround have not help me get any version more recent than 4.12.7 working with my usb dongle that is using FT232R chip, so unfortunately I cannot benefit from the newer features /bug fix of this great software.
Something has changed starting with version 4.13.0 that caused the device to no longer work properly and QLC from starting with that device connected to the laptop. If I remove the device, newer versions of QLC launches.
4.12.7 works with zero issue. I am including a image from version 4.12.7 with the device connected. On more recent version, there is simply no usb device visible to the software:
