Hi all,
Firstly great work on sharing of ability .. great minds
I'm a DMX newbie but somewhat determined muso keen to take advantage of the digital revolution ..
I've got an Enttec OpenDMX USB that has been operating with my iMac running QLC+ on Mac OSX 10.8.5 - brilliant - also managed to have an iPad using TouchOSC - (and some of the layouts shared here and elsewhere) control QLC+ with a minimum of fuss .. even more brilliant! Even managed to 'build' some profiles for moving heads .. (which I'll upload obviously that do all that's expected!
My problem is that having bought a s/h Macbook 2.1 immediately upgraded to Mac OSX 10.6.3, (seems QLC+ won't operate on earlier OS) to take to the gigs, QLC+ now refuses to 'see' the Enttec OpenDMX USB despite it being clearly visible in the USB Device Tree as outlined in Enttec's troubleshooting guide for Mac OS. - The only Enttec offering!
Exhaustive searches reveal 'fixes' for removing Mavericks' errant USB device drivers which I suspect is likely to be a similar problem to mine, and some 'terminal' patches and the like and not specifically suited to this problem, but being a 'coding' imbecile the search for such beasties is out of my league!
I also downloaded software updates, but ironically either the Airport Utility 5.6.1 or the Mac OS 10.6.8 update introduced major networking dilemmas that meant the Macbook would no longer connect wirelessly to my router! and still didn't see the Enttec lost preferred network identies, refused to connect when reinstated, wouldn't retain login details/passwords, timeouts on connections, despite the iMac next to it happily connected!) consequently 10.6.3 has been re-installed several times, which despite the frustration eliminates 're-installing Mac OSX' as a possible fix.
Hopefully someone has had (and fixed?) this experience? a fix? workaround? more of a clue than I!
Thanks in advance and again to all contributors .. a truly wondrous resource
Cheers

Enttec OpenDMX USB unseen by Macbook OSX 10.6.3
Hi again,
This just in,
QLC+ 4.6.1 'sees' the Enttec OpenDMX and appears to operate properly .. although only just tried 'backtracking' .. should've been the first thing!
So humbly suggest that between 4.6.1 - 4.7.0 there's a 'bit missing' or a 'bit added' that upsets the Mac OS. (10.6.8) I have noticed 4.6.1 takes longer 'referencing' DMX/USB on start-up than 4.7.0 if it helps. Not sure if it's a priority for the 'coders' but at least identified that it's 4.7.0 specific
I'll crack on with 4.6.1 eagerly awaiting a 'fix' and try in the meantime to reclaim a working wifi connection ..
Cheers,
John E Mac
