Thought it might be useful to share some tests that I've finally be able to do on OSX.
I had the chance to run QLC+ 4.5.0 on a Macbook Pro (Core 2 Duo) with Snow Leopard.
Hardware used: ENTTEC USB open - compatible adapter, nanoKONTROL 2, one PAR and one LED bar.
In general I am quite satisfied of the results since the OSX releases are done in a kind of "blind mode". Unfortunately I haven't got the chance to test them properly as I would like to, due to a lack of real hardware.
I found 2 really evident issues, and I'm surprised no one reported them in this forum:
- Virtual Console knobs are not displayed correctly. There is a square displayed under the knob cursor, where it should be transparent
- Audio triggers don't respect the actual audio input gain. The volume bar never reaches the full height even if the Mac microphone input is set to the maximum
Now, these are obviously things I've seen on one Mac with one OSX version, so I kindly ask Mac users to confirm or deny my findings.
I also tested:
- audio output
- audio/lights synchronization
- XY pads
- multi page frames
- MIDI input connected to Virtual Console sliders
- Audio triggers connected to intensity channels
- RGB Matrix
- generic software startup/stability
In this forum, it's been raised several times the "VCP drivers" issue on OSX. Again, I confirm NO extra drivers are needed to operate with FTDI based adapters (means all the ENTTEC and DMXKing ones)
Of course this is not a complete OSX test report, as QLC+ has numerous functionalities and my time is limited.
OSX tests
A follow up on this post. QLC+ version used this time is 4.5.1
I did some more testing on the same machine and everything worked fine:
- ENTTEC USB PRO Mk2
- DMXking ultraDMX Pro2
- DMXking eDMX2 TX (ArtNet adapter). I couldn't see it in the nodes tree but the device worked fine
- simple USB-MIDI adapter
- knobs are now displayed correctly
- audio input gain is coherent with the OSX gain
- tested MIDI clock between Cubase and QLC+ through IAC driver. No additional software used. It was a pain in the ass being able to enable the IAC port but in the end it was working
