Transmitting through two interfaces

Hi folks. I want to send my show through two interfaces, one wired and one wireless. I'm not quite sure how to do that. I tried just highlighting two interfaces in Inputs/Outputs but apparently that's not the correct way to do it.

Can I please get some help?

Thanks,
Rob

I suppose you want to send the same data to both.

If they are both artnet devices, I suppose setting them to the same artnet universe should do the trick (although they have different IP address, but they must be in the same network). If not, it's a bug.
If they are USB + artnet - see viewtopic.php?f=7&t=9518&p=41814#p41869

They would both be USB to DMX. One would be wired to a chain of lights, one would be a wireless transmitter which would send to another set of lights that have wireless receivers on them. I am not using Artnet.

Is there such a thing as a DMX splitter? Meaning could I take my DMXKing adapter and attach it to a splitter and send the signal out to both the wired and wireless connections through one adapter?

Indeed.
That is a DMX splitter.
They even sometimes include a kind of booster to enhance your DMX signal.
They also usually offer electrical isolation function if you USB to DMX interface doesn't have.
A very useful piece of fear to have and not too expensive (stairville or showtec for exemple).

Santiago's trick should work in your case as well.

1. let's say your "normal" universe is 1. patch its output to 127.0.0.1 artnet universe 0
2. patch input of universe 2 to artnet 127.0.0.1, universe 0 and output to your wired dmx. enable passthrough.
3. patch input of universe 3 to artnet 127.0.0.1, universe 0 and output to your wireless dmx. enable passthrough.

Is there any reason why you cant run them as two different universes?

Thank you. I will try that out this weekend when I set up my lights for testing. I would love to have to not buy anything new. I have spent $10K in new lighting in the last 2 weeks. I'm done for a while.

The solution OddSocks suggests is quite reasonable:

- set wired dmx for universe 1
- set wireless dmx for universe 2
- repatch all wireless fixtures from universe 1 to universe 2 (you can eave the addresses as they are or you can move them to condense the universe size).
- I suppose you won't have to change anything beyond that

this has the drawback that you can't move fixtures between those two chains easily, but has advantage of shorter DMX frames.
