Question about sliders

Okay, I've created 3 scenes with my kinta, created 3 coordinating buttons for the scenes, and a slider to adjust the motor speed. Whenever a function is running, the slider wont adjust the speed, but if i click the function twice when selecting a different function it does. Any solution to be able to select a button and use the slider without engaging/disengaging the function?
