Is there a way that QLC can 'record' dmx scenes/values etc from other controllers?
Eg, i have a venue with a Martin 2510 controller installed, but they want to upgrade from a controller to PC, but still want to keep the same programming of the lights etc. So is it possible to record the dmx values from that ?.
Or is there some sort of hand held device which can record dmx values ?

Massimo,
(I have the same need as the OP). When I tried DMXDump last, it only allowed me to dump the DMX output transmit values that QLC was generating. Is there a way to have QLC pass-thru the Input DMX value to Output, and then use DMX Dump (I've played around with this, but haven't been successful yet - still trying, but thought I'd ask for help).
Thanks!

Changes have been made to passthrough on 4.10.2, what version did you try this on ?

Sorry for the delayed response (using QLC+ is a spare time/volunteer endeavor for me, but I'm still a HUGE fan of QLC+!!).plugz wrote:Hello,Silicon_Knight wrote:Massimo,

It was most certainly an older version (sometime last year). I'll try it again over the next few months and I'll post back if it works.

Hi - I have experimented with QLC version 4.10.1 and find that passthrough works well - with the input DMX universe being mixed with the QLC+ output exactly as expected. The effect is visible on the Fixture Monitor and shows up on the Simple Desk as moving sliders.
However, if you dump the DMX Values to a Function, it only records settings generated by QLC+ itself and ignores the incoming DMX values. This means you cannot set a scene on an external boar and record the scene in QLC+ yet. It looks like there are plenty of people asking if it works so i will raise a function request for this as I would like it too. Sadly I am not a software engineer or i would offer to develop it if I could do so.

Some more changes have been made upstream, so until the next version is released, you can try the changes with a Linux GIT version: http://www.qlcplus.org/downloads.html
