Control and feedback between two computers running QLC+?

Sorry if this has been sorted out before, but I couldn't find what I was looking for with the forum search.

I've got an event coming up where I am going to be running one computer at my FOH position for house lights, stage washes, etc., and a second computer backstage running a rear-projected video that will have some accent lights synced to it as well. There are two separate sections of the video, and the transition between them needs to be triggered based when the live band gets to a certain point (can't count on an absolute time). What I want to do is set up QLC+ on the backstage computer with two shows - one for each section of the video/lights. But I want to be able to trigger those two shows from the QLC+ running at my FOH computer. I'd also like to be able to see feedback on at the FOH computer that the expected show is running on the backstage computer.

So far, I've been able to set up a crude proof of concept using solo frames on both ends and ArtNet out from FOH to ArtNet in at backstage. But that just gives me one-way communication. I can't get feedback from the backstage computer. Whenever I try to add ArtNet out on the backstage QLC+, it stop receiving input from the FOH computer. No more little joystick icon in the IO Tab. I can completely reverse it and send from backstage to FOH, but only as long as FOH is not sending as well.

Is there some way to get signals to go both ways between machines so I can send control data one direction and feedback information the other direction?

Hi,

Could you tell us which OS you are using and version of QLC+.

There has been a post about this before but I am not sure how it worked out.

You may try access webinterface of stage computer from foh. See online help.

Sorry, completely slipped my mind. QLC+ 4.10.1, Win7/WinXP at FOH, Linux Mint 17.2 KDE backstage.

Good point, I forgot about the web interface. I'll keep that in mind as a last resort. But I was hoping to be able to trigger the transitions from my MIDI controller at FOH without having to deal with trying to move the mouse and click on things during the show.

On that note, I was finding myself wishing I could assign the VC buttons for my Backstage shows to be flash/momentary buttons instead of toggle. That way I could just have their states mirroring the channels coming in from FOH. But flash/momentary only works for scenes. Is there any way to activate a show only when an input channel is active, and deactivate it when the input channel goes back to zero?

Using a artnet input on both ends should allow you to get a feedback signal you should use a two universe artnet device with dmx input universe 1 is to device universe 2 is feedback the same is the same with FOH. You send 1 universe to the lights the other to backstage input then you just need to code buttons that respond to dmx input on FOH and the same on backstage

Just make sure the FOH feedback button doesn't send a dmx signal other wise you will create a endless loop
