First let me say thank you for all you've done with QLC+ as well as the Raspberry Pi support.

As you know, with the release of the Raspberry Pi 2, many among us are finding design-mode practical on the Pi. Sometimes, even if most of the design work is being done on another computer, it's very handy to be able to tweak/fix something right on the Pi.

It would be great if that didn't require physical access to the Pi (as you know, QLC+ on the RPi is being used in lots of art & architectural installations). At the same time, I understand completely why you've avoided X11.

Have you looked at the embedded VNC server library for QT? (http://doc.qt.io/qt-4.8/qt-embedded-vnc.html) If I read this right, once linked with the library a program can be invoked as either a standalone QT application displaying locally as always or in a remote-only mode where a VNC viewer can connect directly to the application. BTW, this has been ported to QT5 as well (https://github.com/pigshell/qtbase).

I think it would be fantastic if a future update of QLC+ on the Pi could be VNC-enabled.

Hi, unfortunately I haven't.
September and October have been furious months for the QLC+ project and I had to follow the developments on the desktop side.

I contacted the author of the Qt VNC platform plugin though, through GitHub and he's been very kind. He sent me patches in no time, but as I said I haven't had the time to check them out
However, in the last two months there's been a couple of news:
- Raspbian has finally start packing Jessie images
- the Qt company has started to work on a Wayland window compositor (no idea when it's ready though)

So...the VNC/WM topics are always in my mind...it's just a matter of time and to decide the best way to go

Having a WM for Qt w/out X11 would certainly help make the QLC+ GUI on RPi more usable, and it's interesting to note that RealVNC has already ported a server to Wayland (although only on Intel, and it looks like it would be part of their commercially licensed product rather than open source).

I understand fully how busy you must be with QLC+ development. I'm glad VNC for the RPi has remained on your radar, and look forward to the time when you get a chance to look at it further.

I just got the email notice on the release of version 20151213. I won't have the opportunity to load this version until after the new year, but look forward to it.

My heart sank a bit when I read of your frustration at people trying to use the Pi exclusively for project design. It made me think that you'll be less likely to further explore VNC support.

I continue to believe that there's huge value to those of us who design projects on full desktop/laptop systems to be able to easily access the full QLC+ interface remotely to make a quick tweak or fix in place. I know that in my case I've left a monitor, keyboard & mouse connected to one Pi long after I would have otherwise just so I can fine-tune things w/o re-downloading projects.

So, just checking in to keep this on your radar. Once again, thank you so much for all your work on QLC+ and on the RPi version.
