Q Light Controller+

Hi There,
in the past I got good support from the Forum on Sourceforge, so here I am again.

I got some trouble with the Audio Analyzer.
What I try to do is, trigger the Tap and give base beat to a couple of effects.
It was easy to setup, but the audio level seems to be very very low. I use stereo line-in of my soundcard or use a Virtual Soundcard to pipe the Audio from my VLC directly into QLC+. I used voicemeeter and I see proper level of 0dB. Both with the same result.

I also measured the Audio level with various VU or Peakmeters, such like Orban meter. It says my Audio Level should be well set.
I already double checked the Amplifcation levels of the audio Drivers and Windows settings, it is all set well to get a clean level without any clipping.

My OS is Windows 7 pro x64.
QLC+ is 4.8.4 at the moment, but update should be there soon.

The Audio Analyzer moves just slightly above the lowest level and it seems it is not possible to adjust any amplification level within QLC+. I can't go higher on Windows because this would mean I will get clipping.
I found the same problem on 2 computers, the one used in the club an my development laptop. So I don't think it is related to hardware or drivers or OS.
When I choose the built in Microfone and tap my fingers directly to it, I get a little higher levels in the analyzer but not that much.

Am I doing something wrong?

Doesn't anybody have any idea what the problem is?

Audio triggers process input data @ 44.1Khz, mono channel, 16bit.
If you manage to output that format from VLC let us know

I have the same issue here, if needed I can make a movie to show it.

If the input is clipping trough the roof, the leds barely light up..

Even if I'm able to set VLC to Mono 44.1kHz on 16Bit, how should I do this with the Line-In of my Soundcard? I did not feed from VLC directly to QLC+, the Audio Chanin is like:
VLC -> Virtual Audio Cable -> QLC+
I use Voicemeeter Banana as the Virtual Sound Card, so I was able to give it a little boost, but still not enough for QLC+.

Line-In is always Stereo and the input format should be set by the application on Windows. So it's up to QLC+ to tell the driver how to set.

I did some more testing and connected the Line-out of my mixer the Mic-In of the Soundcard. With that I can rise the level, because the Audio driver allows to set amplification. Furthermore it seems that due to the distortion of the high amplification that I need to set, the detection of different frquency doesn't work well.
Additionally I don't know if the sound-card will be damaged when sending Line-Level Audio to the more sensitive Mic-In. Plus there is a DC-Voltage on any PC-Soundcard send out on the Mìc-In to drive electret microfone. I don't want to send DC Voltage to the Line-Out of an expensive Audio-Mixer.

How does QLC+ pick up the Audio on Windows? Via Direct-Audio or do you already use the new WASAPI introduced in Windows Vista.
I assume the QLC+ tells the Audio driver in a correct way to setup Mono 44.1kHz 16bit, otherwise nobody would have been able to use the Audio-In and I'm pretty sure this would have been reported, but what happens if an application tells the Audio Driver to setup as mono device? Does it just use 1 channel (usually left channel) or does mix down the stereo signal into mono.
If it does mix down, I guess there could be some effect that lowers the total volume but usually only if there is same reversed phase between left and right channel. This can appear on wrong wiring, but not on a virtual Soundcard, like Banana.

I'm still confused and don't have any clear explanation.
