QLC with pixel mapping

Good Day,
I am fairly new to QLC, having used DMXis in the past for my lighting needs. I am setting up my traveling show that uses projection video and want to integrate some simple pixel mapping for two set pieces. I travel with my MacBook Pro that runs QLab (from figure 53) as a master controller, then sends out MIDI messages (I plan on transitioning to OSC commands) to sync up the DMX lights.
I am going to build two totems that will hide projectors and be lit inside (like this http://www.platinumkc.com/wp-content/up ... -Heads.jpg) Mine will also have moving heads on the top as well.
I'm wondering what the best solution for this would be. Would the ideal be to setup a RPi in each totem that would control the LED strips? Would that also be able to have a DMX output to control the fixture on top as well? Would I be able to run that over the WiFi network I setup each show? Is there a tutorial somewhere where can lean more about this?
Thanks for your time and support.
peace,
mjm
