It would often be useful to create a channels group for the same parameter on every one of number of identical fixtures, e.g. all the red intensity channels, all the gobo rotate channels, all the strobe speed channels etc.

I suggest the following procedure to reduce the time required to do this:

Create a fixture group containing the relevant fixtures.*

Select the channels group tab and click "add group" icon.

The select channels dialogue box would now have 2 extra widgets:

The first would enable one to select the relevant fixtures group from a list of all fixtures groups. Only the channels belonging to the fixtures in that group would now be available for selection. (This would be useful with any fixtures group to reduce the time needed to find the required channels for the channels group being created)

After a channel has been selected on one of the fixtures, a "select all similar channels" widget would be available, that is, the widget selects the corresponding channel on every other fixture in the group)

If one were feeling very kind one could prevent rubbish channels groups being generated by preventing this procedure on a mixed group of fixtures, but then again.......

* The procedure for creating a new fixtures group seems inconsistent with other things in qlc+, in that it is:

select fixtures > expand new fixtures group icon > name new fixtures group

rather than

click new fixtures group icon > open dialogue for naming group and selecting fixtures
