I have used toggle buttons in and out of a solo frame and linked them to collections. If I play a sound and light QLC+ will work, but if I then go to play a second sound, the program will crash. I have tried using mp3 and wav files, but get the same issue. Is there a way of stopping QLC+ from crashing when using collections that involve sound and light?

I get the following reports:

Hello to you.
As written in the documentation (Basic Concept & Glossary):
"Warning: Even though QLC+ allows you to, it is not possible to play two audio files simultaneously. Especially on Windows, you might experience unwanted crashes."

Guys, can you please read the documentation or search this forum before posting the same things over and over again ?

If you want multiple audio you need to use Linux or a Qt5 based version that you can find in the development threads
Edd

Hi Massimo,

I work with Ed and we wanted to provide an update following testing your suggestions.

Apologies for not checking through the documentation thoroughly or the forum with regards my query.

To clarify; we were trying to find a way of stopping an already playing audio file, when the next one is triggered. We put two buttons in a solo frame each linked to an audio file and when the second one was triggered it crashes QLC+.

Windows 7 32bit & Windows 8.1 64Bit same results
Installed precompiled exe from sourceforge (QLC+_4.7.4.exe)

QLC+ 4.7.4 QT4
- Crashes when triggering a second audio file within a solo frame
- You can hear the sound output
- Tried both .wav and .mp3 file

QLC+ 4.7.4 QT5
- Does not crash when triggering a second audio file within a solo frame and stops original
- You cannot hear the sound output (this is also true when previewing the audio file in functions)
- Videos (.wmv) play well (not tested a video with audio yet)

OS X Mavericks 10.9.3
Installed precompiled dmg from sourceforge (qlc+ 4.7.4.dmg)

QLC+ 4.7.4 QT4
- Does not crash when triggering a second audio file within a solo frame and stops original
- You can hear the sound output
- Tested with .wav

QLC+ 4.7.4 QT5
- Could not find a pre compiled version of QT5 and not tried to compile one yet

Ubuntu-14.04.1
Compiled from GitHub

QLC+ 4.7.4 QT4
- Does not crash when triggering a second audio file within a solo frame and stops original
- You can hear the sound output
- Tried both .wav and .mp3 file

QLC+ 4.7.4 QT5
- Does not crash when triggering a second audio file within a solo frame
- You cannot hear the sound
- Tried both .wav and .mp3 file
- Video playback does not work but suspect file format need to test with another format

In short QT5 does not crash but we cannot get audio in Mac, Windows or Linux. I understand QT5 is still in the process or being ported but any advice or support on how we can also get audio playing with QT5 would be greatly appreciated, as ideally we would like to have audio, video and lighting working in shows we will be creating. If that’s not possible is there any way with QT4 on Windows to stop it crashing with multiple audio files in a solo frame?

Thank you for your time helping with this, we think QLC+ is a fantastic program with many advantages for us, especially if we can get the QT5 version working now we know it support video!

Massimo Callegari

Hello Edd,
that's quite a complete overview of the audio/video status.

Unfortunately, the Qt5 multimedia part is still a bit behind, especially on OSX.
I've filed a bug to the Qt team but they seem to ignore the fact that a piece of code working on Linux and Windows and not on OSX is not worth to be fixed.

See for yourself: https://bugreports.qt-project.org/browse/QTBUG-37882
Opened on March 27th....
I've tested it again with the incoming Qt 5.3.2 and the bug is still there.

As for video on Linux, you might want to check this:
https://sourceforge.net/p/qlcplus/discu ... /827acc99/

or directly do this:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mc3man/trusty-media
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg

Cheers
Edd

Hi Massimo,

Do you think its the same issue? I cannot get audio to work with QT5 on any platform, and from the bug report it looks like only mac is affected?

Does audio work for you with QT5? if so on what OS?

I will try another sample rate to see if that works.

Thanks
Massimo Callegari

I just tried QLC+ GIT on Qt 5.3.1 on Linux Mint 17 (equivalent of Ubuntu 14.04)

I can hear the audio
I can try later on Windows too
Edd

Hi Massimo,
Amazing, thanks’s for the new windows build that cracks it!

Windows 8.1 64Bit and 7 32Bit - QLC+ 4.7.5 QT 5.3.1
https://sourceforge.net/p/qlcplus/discu ... d/36a6b9a8
-Sound works perfectly
-Video works. Think it might stop playing after you have played 5+ videos but needs more testing our end

Ubuntu-14.04.1 664Bit QT 5.3.1
-Recompiled with QT 5.3.1 and now we have sound! turns out I had a lower version installed
-I still need to look at the video link you sent

Thanks again for your help, we will do some more testing.
Edd
