QLC+ 4.8 not starting visible on Windows7 64Bit

Hi Community,

i downloaded the current version 4.8 and installed it.
My System is:
OS: windows7 Professional 64Bit
System Language: German
Hardware: DELL Latitude E6510 (Laptop) (Core i7 and 8G RAM)
i have a secondary Display connected and the desktop is in extended mode.

I Installed QLC+ as Administrator.
After the Install i tried to start it up.
but there comes no Visible Window.
if i look in the task-manager i can see there is a process 'qlcplus.exe *32'.

I also tried to start it as Admin. but that makes no difference.

are there debug options to test to get to the possible reason for this?
pleas let me know how i can help to debug the problem.

Hi, have you tried to start from scratch ? Uninstalling/installing again should do it.

What you describe is most likely a bad input/output configuration.
If the above works, then you can understand (and please report back) which plugin is the cause of the issue

Maybe you can try running qlcplus from the command line with debug output enabled:

open cmd.exe, and type:

qlcplus -d 0

David, they can't anymore. Now a release is a release, so all the debug messages are stripped out.

Hi Massimo,

i have unistalled QLC+ and than installed it again.
(i also have checked that the directory was empty after the uninstall)

i tried again and the same behaivor:
if i start QLC+ i see a short moment a waiting coursor. than nothing happens.
if i look in the taskmanager i can see that there is a qlcplus.exe process with about 9% cpu usage.
but there is no window visible..
i have attached two screenshots from the taskmanager.

if i try the commandline i get the same result -
the process is there but no window. and in the commandline the process returns directly - so no debug output.

Here is a short update:
i tried with the 4.8.1 version - no luck - same behavior
then i tried with the 4.7.4 - that starts just fine!
so i think it has something to do with the switch to QT5 on windows...?!

Stefan, as mentioned earlier, this must be something related to plugins.
Please try to remove all the DLLs in the plugins directory and see if QLC+ starts up.
If so, start to fill back again the plugins directory one DLL by one, until you find which one causes the issue.

I test QLC+ on Windows 7 as well and everything seems fine to me.

sorry to reply so late..
with 4.7.4 it was the same behavior- the first time it started fine-
i posted the message - and then when i tried to start it again the next day no window where shown.
than i found your answer -
that tip worked!
i moved all DLLs out of the plugins folder. and tada - QLC+ 4.7.4 started.
so i deinstalled 4.7.4 and installed 4.8.1.
and it started all fine.
now at the moment i would say the problem is fixed..

is it possible that with the removing of the plugins and starting QLC+ cleans up / removes some configuration for the plugins? that would explain why after the fresh install (with all plugins in place) all things work..
