Q Light Controller+

Hi there,

I currently run the wonderful QLC+ on a Win7 PC (Acer Revo) and use a plain old VGA monitor and a Enttec Open USB DMX,NEXTEC Afterglow Slim compatible controller from bitbang.co.uk.

What I'd really like to do is put together a Multi-Touch Touch screen rig with a bare bones PC and continue to use the same USB Controller.

I'm quite tech savvie so not overly concerned if I have to switch OS to Linux (and I do have a Mac Mini knocking around if I need it) but does anyone have thoughts on the best hardware/OS combo I can go for ? It's mainly used for live gigs with about 8 fixtures of mixed abilities.

I would be very interested in your views - Let's assume a reasonable budget but I'm not overly concerned with that !!!

I've been fighting with this as well. Personally, I'm a Mac guy, so I'm predisposed to go that way, but when the Raspberry Pi port was announced, I looked very hard at that. Unfortunately, I think that the showstopper for the Pi is touchscreen. I just haven't been able to find an acceptable solution for that. Everything seems pretty hacked together and that's not really what I want for what I basically want to be a console-like device. So, that leaves me with the more expensive, but much more workable solution of an old Mac Mini and an ELO touchscreen.

this might not be what you are after but o got great results using OSC interface from my android tablet.

I don't have it rigged up now, but this is what i had.... it can't be that hard to do the same on raspberry pi..

0.5) make sure my linux QLC laptop and my android were on the same network.
1) set up QLC plus to accept OSC inputs.
2) put touch osc on my android
3) created a bunch of sliders on OSC
4) joined sliders on my osc to sliders in the Virtual desk on QLC plus.
5) pressed play on the QLC machine.

6) sat on the front row and played witht the lights.....

*** there might have been a few more steps than that.... but that's the gist of it.

I guess using a web interface could also work?
