Light only works in LTP, not HTP

I have a par 56 RGB from SLD lighting and a par 64 RGB from Omez. I wrote definitions for both. The SLD would not respond to QLC+ and the Omez functioned erratically. I tried multiple different changes. I finally changed the channels from HTP to LTP and now the SLD seems to work OK. I did the same with the Omez and now it will work, but of course, since it is in LTP for the red, green, and blue intensity it will not turn off because it maintains the "last takes priority" protocol. The only way I can get it to turn off is to program a black scene and switch to it.
I know that LTP is designed for the movement channels (pan, tilt, etc.), but I was trying everything and that is the only way I could get the lights to turn on.
Is there a better way to get these lights to function? Am I missing something?
