Hi!

I have problems with my DMX interface and the new version 4.7.0 of QLC+. The interface is still recognized by the software, but it doesn't send any output. The problems exist on OS X and Windows 7/8. On both systems the interface still works flawlessly if I use the older 4.6.1 version.

Thanks for your help!

Hi, I think this is a bug.
As a workaround can you please try to manually raise channel 512 on the simple desk and tell me if it works after that ?
Flo

Many thanks for your really fast response!

No, that doesn't help. I just played around with different channels (including 512) for some minutes. Two times the LED par I used for testing suddenly reacted. But only for a few seconds. And sadly I'm not able to reproduce it.

On the input/output section the program says the device is functionally. But as soon as I click on the configuration button QLC+ hangs.

OK, the actual version 4.7.1 works on OS X (by the way: What's the difference there between 4.7.1a and 4.7.1b?) and on Windows 7. But sadly the Windows laptop I want to use for lighting has Windows 8 on it - and I can't get it to work there. Without the StageProfi the QLC+ program starts, but as soon as I plug in the DMX adapter QLC+ hangs. If it is already connected QLC+ even doesn't start at all. It doesn't seem to be a problem with the actual version: 4.6.1 shows the same behaviour. Do you have any tipps for me what I'm doing wrong?
Massimo Callegari

Flo, please ignore version 4.7.1b for OSX. I removed it as it was buggy.

I have no idea why the Stageprofi works everywhere except for Windows 8, but I would say it's something related to drivers.
Have you installed any software for the adapter ?
Is there a DMX4ALL reference application for Windows that you can use to make some basic tests to see if it works in Windows 8 ?
Maybe here: http://www.dmx4all.de/software.html ?

The other software like Freestyler worked. So I deleted QLC+ and reinstalled it at the default location - now it works at my Windows 8 laptop, too. :-) Thanks for your time! And thanks for your nice piece of software!

Sadly I'm having problems with this interface again: The current version 4.7.4 of QLC+ hangs if the StageProfi is connected. At the moment I reinstalled 4.7.3 which works as expected.

Hello Flo. Are you using Windows ?
Can you please try the latest test build and see if it works ?

Just tried it: No, it also doesn't work there. Although the task manager shows that the process is running, there doesn't appear any window.

Hi again. 4.8.0 should make your Stageprofi back to work.
Can you please check it ?
Flo

I didn't check version 4.8.0, but 4.8.1 still has problems: The device is recognized, but the output shows errors: Exspecially fadings of DMX values partly don't work, although the QLC+'s own DMX monitor shows the right behaviour. So some lamps keep being on, some chasers even don't have any (visual) output for some time... Maybe the internal buffer of the device isn't handled correctly by the newer versions of QLC+?

(Version 4.7.3 still works, so it's not a matter of my device.)
Flo

Same problem with 4.8.2: Although the channel monitor shows correct values, the interface completely ignores fadings.

By the way: Is there a chance that the NanoDMX will work with Windows in the near future, too?
Massimo Callegari

The Stageprofi is indeed a weird device, and I suspect there are several firmwares on the market, since the one I have at home works perfectly on Windows 7.

As for the NanoDMX, it is based on a non-FTDI chip, so have it working on Windows is not trivial at all. Maybe on OSX it could be easier, but I haven't had the time to look into it yet
Flo

OK, new test with 4.8.3 (Sorry, I hope, I don't annoy you too much... ;-) ):
If a chaser fades more than one channel, only the first one fades. The other ones ignore fade in and fade out times and just jump. (But the QLC+ channel monitor still shows fading values for all channels.)
