Step duration button/script

In the virtual console, is it possible to create a button to set a specific duration? I have added the standard duration widget in the virtual console which allows me to dial in or tap to get the duration for the chosen chasers. What I would like to do is have a button to switch it to .50 of a second, and another button to switch it to .51 of a second and I can name these buttons 120BPM, 118BPM, etc.

This will allow a lighting tech in a nightclub to look at a BPM display on the DJs laptop or CD deck and click the speed to make the lights change in time. This means that the lighting tech won't have to press the tap button, which can be inaccurate if the person has poor timing. I have tested the timing and it works very well but I'd like to have a single button to choose each BPM.

On the same point, is it possible to have a more accurate duration choice, such as 0.xxx of a second instead of 0.xx? For example, 126BPM would stay in sync for longer if I could select 0.476 instead of 0.47.

If these features aren't already possible in QLC+ then they would make a great addition for anyone in the nightclub environment.

That's a very good question. I'm also using QLC+ for a club environment (I've been a ShowCAD Artist user for many years) and I wonder about this. I'd really like to be able to select double the BPM, half the BPM etc as the rate for chasers that was defined by a master BPM in QLC+ (ala Artist). I've used Traktor's beatclock to sync chasers when I've been DJing, but when I'm just operating lights with QLC+ I use Waveclock and just feed it an audio signal.

BTW, on a different note, even with the system you'd suggested - it would still depend on some accuracy for the light jock. Even if they dialed in the correct BPM, they'd still have to hit the chaser on the 1st beat accurately to have it sync. One of the nice things about QLC+ is that the BPM tap retimes the chaser to make it sync to the beat.

I see what you're saying Joe about the lighting tech having to accurately hit the first beat, but this is less of a problem because when using the tap button to select the tempo your timing mistakes are added together on every beat, whereas if you slightly mistime the first beat it just shifts the whole lot by a small amount. I hope that makes sense.

I'm not really looking for anything to give a perfect solution here, but I just think it would be quite a lot easier to achieve sync'd lights with what I suggested.

I'll look into Waveclock. That sounds interesting. I'm only just getting started with QLC+.
