Controlling intensity of RGBMatrix

I have LED par cans for which I used RGBMatrix functions to create various dim / strobe patterns. The effect I was after would of been very involved from a scene/chaser perspective. The RGB function seemed like a quick way of achieving this.

How can I control the intensity of the par cans when using the RGB function? I found a crude way of doing this through fade-in times, but at times it starts interfering with hold times, etc.. Wondering if there's a better way.

FYI -- I have 4 par cans arranges linearly.

Thank you.

Hello to you.
In virtual console create a button, attach the matrix, go to operate mode, click on the button.
If you right click on the button you can set the intensity.

Another way is placing the button and a slider in submaster mode in the same frame.

Hello Massimo. Thanks for responding and writing such a great and flexible piece of code.

Extending the concept -- Is there a way to black out a chaser of scenes when a toggle button changes states from "on" to "off"? Either blackout or setting the intensity of a chaser function to 0 when button is toggled off. The chaser is question is composed of scenes of moving head positions / etc..

Thank you!

Massimo,

I tried what you suggested and had a SOLO toggle button triggering a LED par can RGB MATRIX function. I was unable to set the intensity within the button. After checking the checkbox and setting intensity, the function still plays back at full intensity.

However, I can verify that the GRAND MASTER is able to dim all lights / functions without any issues. I'm wondering if it's a patching problem somewhere. I had to create my own fixture definitions.

Am I doing something wrong or would this be a bug / feature / limitation of the software?

Thank you.

As I said, RIGHT CLICK on the button while in operating mode. A small popup with a slider appears.
Did you try that ?

Ahh... Gotch. Sorry, missed the right click part, there is an intensity range in the button properties, hence the confusion.

What is the intensity in the PROPERTIES for then?

I did. It's a great manual. I'm asking as there seems to be a discrepancy somewhere...

Adjust function intensity

If checked, this feature will adjust the intensity of the assigned function just before playing it when the button is pressed.

I'm just wondering how is this different / supposed to work differently vs. right clicking on the button in OPERATE mode.

Thank you.

It would be nice to be able to limit the intensity before it even gets to VC. My LED pars have a shared dimmer/strobe channel so I want to limit the intensity so it does not strobe, but I don't want the operator to be able to turn it back up.

Ok.. I think found a bug.

@Massimo -

I migrated my project to a Windows VM on my Mac and installed QLC+. Everything migrated painlessly to my surprise.

On WINDOWS:

Setting the Intensity of a BUTTON in design mode, reflects the same intensity in OPERATE mode. Meaning it works as expected. Setting Intensity to 50% results in 50% when I right-click on the button in operate mode.

On MAC:

Setting the Intensity of a BUTTON in design mode, DOES NOT reflect the same intensity in OPERATE mode. Looks like that link is broken somewhere. I can right-click and see intensity set to 100% even though I set it to 50% in design mode.

Using the virtual console on WINDOWS.
