Add menu option for users to change and save IP address for Ethernet.

I see there is a way in the Web Interface but not on the console interface. You can not get to the web without a valid IP address.

I changed mine by editing the interfaces file in terminal mode and rebooted. Many user will not know how to do that.

Jimmy, the Raspberry Pi image is configured how most of the commercial routers and network devices are:
it comes with a default static IP address (written in the user guide) so you can access the device via web and then change the IP to dynamic or another static one.

I don't think when you receive a router you ask for a console access (which most of them don't have anyway)
Changing the IP manually is an option but it is not suggested in this case.

How do you get into the desktop environment, as you need this do do the things the websites suggested, because I need a command line emulator?

Thanks for your support,
Jed

Jed, there is no desktop environment in the Raspberry Pi image, and all the commands you see in the links above, can be given on a shell access via SSH.

I get you are a Windows user, since you don't know that Unix systems don't have terminal emulators...they actually have the real ones ! :)
