Easy one - 6 light chase question

OK - been playng with QLC+ - great stuff. Got my laser working well and created a nice sequence with it (green laser wash above head height, expands as it descends).
I'm now going to to create a simple single colour chases with 6x LED Pars, so they flash in sequence in one colour, one by one. Strobing really, but still a chase. I'll create three of these, one for each R, G and B.
Watched some tutorial videos but they lost me a bit and I just want to cut to the chase (!). Best order of creation? IN hardware, I'd create x6 scenes. Each scene would have one of the lights on , and all the others off. Then I'd simply create a chase and drop all 6 scenes in , in order. Run the chase, and bingo, it would chase from one to the next.
In QLC+ there are scenes, colour groups, scene groups. Not sure the most efficient way to use them? Create scenes in the software like I did in hardware, then put them in a chase? Create colour groups and use them somehow?
Just a basic pointer in teh logical order for what I'm doing? I can work out the details.
