unwanted fixture flashing

Hi, there,

the issue is that when I select any colour chanel the wash moving head fixture it starts to flash in the colour I selected, that happens when I plug the fixture directly but also on the 3d viewer, when I use freestyler it works fine. I also have a beam that works fine
no idea what could be wrong, so I maybe someone could help me identifying the issue, thanks.

Welcome to the forum,

Flashing fixtures have a ton of reasons. The we want to lower the possibilities I come up with this:

* In QLC+ there is not such a thing as a 3D viewer,
* connecting directly means you have a DMX interface -> which one?
* and now a beam works fine? How and when?

Please provide a full setup description, and we will help you.
? Did you change the settings of your DMX interface speed? You don't have a clue what I'm talking about? Start by searching with [your DMX interface] + [flickering] in the forum's search box.

[edit] {note to GGGss (myself): get your ass an open-dmx interface and a freestyle setup -> and verify DMX signal frequency, so I can answer directly ... I've tried to solve this over a million times now ...}

Thanks for answering, yes I'm new to this, by 3D viewer, I mean magic 3d viewer, I can share the fixture profile file for 3D viewer if someone wants to try. I have installed qlc+ on other PC and it also flashes but at a different rate. the output I'm using for 3d viewer is artnet plug in. to connect to the fixture I using the cheap uDMX adapter, but since it also flickers on the visualiser, I believe it's not related to signal frequency, or I'm I wrong? what's the difference between qlc+ and freestyler when it relates to the output.
I can try to edit the registry files, but I'm not sure if it's necessary nor if I'm able to :(

If the flickering comes from QLC+ (through Artnet), then you might have issues with the fixture profile.
Please send in your project file and custom fixture definitions.

Here it is, thanks for your help, I tried to upload the ssl2 file for the magic view but it seems I can't upload that file format.

Remove all the "Acts on" attributions in 16 channel mode.

I don't know why people think they have to fill in the "Acts on" field in the mode editor, again and again. It's handled in our docs but still it pops up every couple of weeks with erraneous fixture files from new users.

For me that means it's misleading in the UI and should be renamed or disabled in some way, to prevent this to happen. I don't have a solution, I haven't needed to use this feature, ever so far.

Another thing is that a lot of users still do not know where to find the on-line Fixture Validator (https://www.qlcplus.org/fixture_validator.php)

In this case the result would have been:

ERROR: channel <Reset> capability with empty description. Please write one.

The fixture profile looks ok.
And what is the status of your show file now? Are you still experiencing problems?

I think OP misunderstood the phrase "and show file for us" to show the fixture definition here, while you meant to tell to upload the workspace file ;-/

yes, the problem still persists, it keeps blinking, what I find strange is that with freestyler it doesn't and works fine.
I would love to move to qlc but I can't without solving this problem.

So then it comes back to your uDMX interface. Lowering the number of transmitted channels and setting a lower DMX frequency can help.

lowering the number of transmitted channels, does it mean like using for example only one machine to test?
can you help me lowering DMX frequency?
thanks

thanks for the link, but I didn't quite understand the steps, I was able to find the registry folder, but that was about it, I didn't found the udmx folder, nor was able to create a new parameter.
is there a more detailed tutorial for windows?

appreciate

1) open regedit
[windows]+[R] type in regedit and [enter]
2) go to the QLC+ branch => Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\qlcplus\
ScreenHunter_43 Oct. 17 12.15.gif
3) if not existant - create a new category udmx
ScreenHunter_43 Oct. 17 12.18.gif
4) Under that new category, create 2 keys: frequency and channels
ScreenHunter_43 Oct. 17 12.21.gif
5) double click the newly created keys and enter the new values for your setting.
30 for the frequency and f.i. 128 for your channels value (depending on how your fixtures are organised in the universe)

There is a nice topic about this specific problem here : https://www.qlcplus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11077

thanks for the Screenshots, but it didn't solved the issue, I tried several values and didn't notice any difference between them, what should I try next?
