I checked out some of the items listed in compatibility as I assume there has to be some connection between your computer and your lights. We have a decent variety of lights, movers, bars, par cans, laser, scorpion, kinta, etc. I see in Amazon simple USB <-> DMX cable or one of the listed compatible items like Yarilo Open DMX - USB DMX Interface. Which do I need the simple cable or one of these DMX interface devices? I'm assuming we don't need the board if we are using the software, just the USB to DMX something or other.
Thanks in advance

If you choose the processor-less devices, your PC will be burdened by the DMX timing - and many issues arise with his scenario. If this is your first DMX interface, please invest a little money. You will have this device for years to come -trouble-free. I'm not saying the simple USB - DMX cables won't work, the many posts you can find here all point out to other simple DMX interfaces.
