chaser delay on first step.

so.
im probably not using the correct search terms, but im having a couple of problems i cant find solutions for
i have set up several simple sequences with 4 fixtures. all set in a solo frame, only one at a time can be selected.
i have set up a looping chaser, to switch between these sequences every 4 beats as set from the speed dial.
so far so good
the first problem is that when i start the chaser, all lights are black until the first step changes, leaving me with almost a full second of dead lights. how do i get the chaser to start immediately when i hit the button rather than waiting for the first trigger from the speed dial?
secondly, since the chaser references the other functions im using, i cant have it as a button in the same solo frame. when i activate the chaser, the sequences in the solo frame automatically cancel, which is what i want to happen, but obviously if i then hit one of the buttons in the solo frame then the chaser button doesnt cancel since it isnt in the same solo frame.
is there a way to nest frames so that i can essentially have the button activating the sequence in the same frame as the buttons activating the functions the sequence references?
any help would be much appreciated. what i want id probably documented, but my google fu appears to be weak.
