HW considerations: Windows vs. Ubuntu Laptop

Hi,

not a really new question, and I don't want to start a religious discussion.

I'm normally a Mac user for some reason, and am now to decide if I set up a standalone Windows or a Linux (Ubuntu) Laptop for QLC+
I also tried out the Raspberry solution. However I think, this does not fit my current demands at the moment.
I did a first test install under parallels for Ubuntu and think this fits better my needs, I use Windows at work. So both are fine for me, I think one more mac would be overkill at the moment, so I'm looking towards a used, simple, cheap laptop.

So short question: what are the pros/cons for either solution: Windows or Linux, what are pitfalls, what are resource considerations etc.?

My current setup looks like "PC", USB DMX interface, Audio in, ~8-12 fixtures/heads moving lights planned.

Any recommendations?

A very religious question ...
If you want to use touch screen != Mac

Hm, touch screen is a good point: I know that my wife's MS Surface is doing well with touch. What about touch on Linux?

Decision made: I got an Lenovo Thinkcentre M910q on refurbed for ~100EUR and installed Ubuntu. Nearly everything up - running QLC+ like a charm
It will run headless with MS Remote Desktop and OSC controlled once finished programming (OK, maybe once finished 80%...)

My recommendation is to install Ubuntu. For me more stable and lighter than Windows. No drivers problems, good network support I use normally QLC+ with ArtNet devices. All USB devices an controllers that I used works as expected.
