After editing a fixture, if you try to patch it directly v5 crashes.
It happened to me with several fixtures, I'd say always.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to reproduce this too.
Can you please provide exact steps to debug it?
Thanks

Hey Massimo,
today I was making a new fixture and v5 crashed 3 times in a row after modifying the fixture, overwrite it and clicking "Back to QLC+".
I'm trying the appimage from yesterday "macos: update deployment files #1105", here the library in case it could be the cause.

I noticed that this mode has 3 heads and that both Head 1 and Head 3 share the channels 4 Wash Dimmer and 5 Wash Strobe.
If i read the manual (https://docs.qlcplus.org/v4/fixture-def ... ead-editor) however, it sais:
I suggest just to remove those channels from head 1 and 3 of this mode in this QXF file, to find out if this was the cause of the the crash.
As i only use QLC+ v4 i cannot help you with that.
If i read the manual (https://docs.qlcplus.org/v4/fixture-def ... ead-editor) however, it sais:
For example if there are 3 heads each with a dedicated dimmer control, then you should include the dimmer channel too.
If, instead, the fixture has a single dimmer channel to control the intensity of all the heads together, then do not include it in the head definition.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll correct the definition, nevertheless you're watching the final file and the crashes happened before adding the emitters, I had not crashes when I added them at last.
Even if a definition is wrong it shouldn't crash a software, especially in this case were the show file was completely empty, just started v5 so anything was patched, isn't it?

how would you set the type and head layout?
here the manual:

@Massimo
I'm testing the real fixture now, it's practically impossible to control this kind of fixtures in the 2d View: the intensity widget controls all the dimmers together...
Would it be possible to add a dimmer selection to the intensity widget? Like it possible in other widgets, eg Shutter or Color Wheel where there are separate tabs.
Maybe a global one plus separate tabs? So we can decide what dimmer to use?
@Michel
without adding the dimmer to the emitter 1 and 3 it's not possible to control it even if I select the emitter in the Fixture Groups list, like so the 2d view becomes unusable.

I noticed that a few modes (and some other things) were missing in the Fixture Definition of the Varytec Colors NerveStrobe HP.
I have completed it.
You can find it overhere: https://www.qlcplus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18040

thanks but I think you've uploaded the wrong file, it has only the 16ch mode
btw, today I've tried to add the global dimmer in both the 2 sub-elements and it seems to work just fine, the advantage (in v5) is that you can select only one element in the group list and control the intensity in the 2d view. If you then select the other element the global dimmer will show the updated value, so far it's the expected behavior.
Also (not for you) today I wrote other 2 fixture definitions to test other lights and I had around a dozen of crashes, often after closing the fixture editor and clicking on the "add fixture"...

Hard to admit, but i did indeed upload the wrong file.
Apologies for that.
I corrected it (so anyone who downloaded this file before 10-01-2025 00:55, it was the wrong file).
To be sure, the correct one is about 19KB:
