Improve creation of fixture groups

By creating a new fixture group containing fixtures with multiple heads the heads of the fixtures inside the group are "out of order". For example: i create a group of 4 matrix lamps, each of them having 6x6 pixels aka heads. So, i define the group as 24 pixel width and 6 pixel height. I know that the fixture definition contains information about the rows and columns of the fixture but in the group these dimensions are unused. Instead of this the heads of the fixtures are arranged just from left to right and from top to down.
Is it possible to use the information from the fixture itself during the creation of the group or by adding the fixture to the group? I also use matrix lamps with 4x40 pixels and creating groups of them is very evil
