Use a knob as a discreet selector key

Hi everyone,
These days I decided to use a knob to control the "Divide by 2" and "Multiply by 2" buttons on a Speed Dial. My idea is basically to use the knob with a selector key, for example: when the knob is in the middle (example: value 127) do not activate any of the two buttons, when from the middle turn clockwise activate the "2x" button at some value (example: 193) but then when you return the knob to the center position (example: 127) activate the "1/2x" to return the speed dial to the "1x" position. I understand that the difficulty with this is that the QLC+ somehow interprets when the knob turns in one direction or another.
This would help me more intuitively control the speed of the effects in a live operation using this knob. I have tried to solve it by modifying the channel configuration of some channels in my loopback universe but I cannot get this behavior.
I hope you understand my point, thanks in advance
