So I've been playing with Channel Groups .. and found some amazing ability to live-edit scenes as I am working on them. if you have channel groups for fixture group-specific features ( Red, Green, Blue, H, V, etc .. ) .. when editing a scene that uses the channels, the faders can be live; which is something I never knew?!
  • Create a "control universe" and Configure and assign a device to QLC, I am using an APC40MkII

  • Generate channel group(s) for common features across the groups So if i have some "uplights" that are all RGBWAU ..
    Screenshot 2023-07-11 at 10.54.18.png
  • assign the channels to controls on the surface,
  • Generate a "color" scene .. and assign the channel group
    Screenshot 2023-07-11 at 10.56.58.png
  • you can now live edit the channel via the slider.
  • When editing the scene .. the sliders *can* collide with other channel groups as ONLY the values in the active scene will be changed!! This means you can assign the same fader to multiple channel groups and when editing it will only edit the current scene. This is a big deal as most surfaces you have won't have enough faders.
So this is a game changer for us .. and will be doing more exploring and testing, but wondering if anyone else has found a good surface to use for this type of editing?

I'm going to try this, I had given up on ch. Groups for the most part because they didn't help my workflow in the vc
