hello every one i am new to these technology and i would like to ask if is it possible to use a LYX PRO4 ethernet to dmx adapter with no chips inside? it is a bare plate that connects ethernet port to xlr terminals. i had followed the video tutorials and nothing happens
the cables work by themselves, i do not know if i am choosing the right option in the output input routing section of the software i am using windows 7 and a 10.14 version of qlc and feel kind of lost by now, thanks every one for your time. kind regards

Hello,
the adapters you have just allow you to use one ethernet cable instead of 4 DMX cables. There are no electronics. DO NOT CONNECT DMX and ethernet using this adapter. YOU MAY FRY either ethernet or DMX side!!!
It certainly will not work.
You need a device that outputs DMX signal in the first place. You may:
(1) either buy device that connects using USB to your computer, and outputs DMX signal on XLR connector(s) and then use your adapters to convert from 4x XLR to cat5/6 cable and back
(2) or buy device that connects to ethernet network and outputs DMX signal on XLR connector(s). You connect the computer using local network. The adapters you have are of no use here.
(1) Popular manufacturers are Enttec, DMX King. There are two types - the cheaper ones do not contain processor, and everything must be done by the computer CPU (Enttec open DMX USB) and
a bit more expensive but also more stable ones with own processor - enttec usb dmx pro, dmx king ultra DMX
(2) Keywords to look for are "Artnet node". They are usually even more stable than the USB devices with processor. Protocols to search for are ArtNet or sACN e1.31. Popular devices are Enttec openDMX ethernet ("ODE"), DMX King eDMX.

Thank you so much Jano! lucky me it did not burned the ethernet port on the pc, i was so confused because the qlc software detected 1 node and transmitted lots of data packages, now i know better, thank you a lot i will search for a ethernet to dmx device such as the ones recommended above.
