Can´t get RGB matrix to work

Hi!
I´m a beginner to QLC+ so bare with me
Mostly very straight forward and easy to use, great work.
But I can´t get the RGB matrix to work. I have testet with 2 different fixtures. One Eurolite PST-9 DMX, it´s in the original fixture list and a custom 8 ch flatpar RGBW.
The fixtures reacts as they should when I make a scene but when I make a RGB matrix they don´t react at all. I think I have tried all settings and all kind setups of the fixture but nothing happens.
I have followed watched all tutorials and everything match up.
I have tried to make a collection with a scene with full dimmer and the RGB matrix, I´ve tried to put both MSB and LSB on the fixture.
I´ve tried the EFX editor for my MovingHeads and they work perfect, all the scenes, chasers, collections etc seems to work fine. So I don´t get why the RGB Matrix wont work.
Can it be my USBtoDMX adapter? I didn´t get it to work under windows so I made a Ubuntu installation, but all the other functions seem to work fine. Should I test another QLC+ version, I have 4.16 now?
Any tips for further troubleshooting? It´s seems to be a superb function to have so I really want to make it work.

Hey!
Can you please share your project so I can take a look?
It might be a fixture profile and not your fault!

Just to make sure, you surely did create a fixture group and added that as target for your RGB matrix?
It's not possible to use RGB matrix on single fixtures, and doesn't make any sense either.
The matrix generates sequences of lights changing for a group of lights that are all the same or similar,

I have test to put just a single and several fixtures in a group that I assinged in the RGB Matrix...
Can it be the that the fixture is setup with a rgb macro on one channel that is the problem?

You need to create a fixture group. You then select the fixture group from the fixture group dropdown when creating the rgb matrix.
This covers it step by step:

That is exactly how I did it. I can see the lights in the preview window and they flash and fade as they should. But the actual fixtures wont react.

1. in the definition editor, go to modes editor for 8channel mode and set "Acts on" to nothing (" - ") for every channel.
This really needs a mention in the manual, people seem to think they have to set it to the same channel. If you do that the fixture behaves wrongly in QLC+, and the 2D Preview shows
bright white as soon as you raise the master dimmer channel, no matter where the RGB etc. are at.
2. save and restart QLC+. For the RGB matrix to show, you must raise the included fixtures' Master dimmer channel. Either do that in simple desk or create a button in VC and switch into operate mode. Previous version of the RGB Matrix included a switch "Dimmer control" or similar, that has gone for some reason I don't remember. So now you must take care of that outside the Matrix in order to show.

I should clarify - in the RGB Matrix window did you click the silver play button?

RGB matrixes is something I have a lot of experience with just because I make a lot of custom fixtures. I would be happy to have a look on a remote session sometime with you and see what's going on.

Thanks edogawa!
Your tip kind of worked. Beside change the "Act on" to nothing I also had to change all channels in channel editor to custom in the preset.
Now it works just as it should!
Time to start build everything up and figure out how to make stuff react to sound

Glad it got sorted out!
Sorry if I seemed condescending, not my intention at all.

Interestingly, in my test I only changed "Acts on", but left the preset choice alone, and it worked just fine for me.
Glad it helped!

I am having this exact same issue, but I can't for the life of me find the "acts on" anywhere. Can you explain a little more? I'm brand new, I have two Chauvet Par56's. And I am just getting started. I have added the fixtures, put them in a group, and they light up and obey the sliders in the scenes I have created. But now I am trying to get them to Matrix, and no luck. I didn't change anything in the fixtures when I added it, except the addresses, of course. Where in the heck is this "acts on" setting?

The "acts on" setting is in the Fixture Definition (on the Modes Tab).
If you use the Fixture Editor (C:\QLC+\qlcplus-fixtureeditor.exe), you can open the ....QXF file of the Fixture you are using.
What you also could do, is go here :
https://www.qlcplus.org/fixture_validator.php and check your fixture.
If you used a standard Fixture Definition from the QLC library however, it is not likely that it has this kind of mistake.
If you created the Fixture Definition yourself don't feel ashamed, it is a very common mistake.
Be aware that if you create a RGB Matrix in Control Mode = "Default (RGB)" it only affects the RGB channels of your Fixture. If your Fixture also has a channel for Level you have to set it separately.
