Ask a generic question about the usage of QLC+, not related to a particular operating system

Hi,

Im currenting running a show using led strip to dmx encoder box, QLC+ to Ableton . Has anyone used RGB neon rope light the same way. The led strip is constantly getting damaged during transportation and I'm looking for a better alternative. thanks QLC+!!!!

Yes absolutely. Make sure you get the constant voltage variety. Not the pixel type.

Post the link here before you buy and a photo of your encoder and we can tell you if it will work :)

This should work IMO, I use similar strips with 5, 12 or 24V very frequenly, on similar or cheaper (AliExpress) converters, without problem.

The color wiring is printed on the strip near the cutting zone, and apart from where + has to go, it's up to you which channel controls which color.

The connection to Ableton is probably easiest made with MIDI, although OSC is possible too. I'm not a Live user though, except for playback in theater... we have controlled a hardware lighting console recently from Live, very reliably, with MIDI to that console, OSC to Resolume for mapped video to 3 beamers (on a second PC), and Audio FX and playback.
