16bit dimming - how does it work?

Hi! New user here, but I studied this issue as thoroughly as I could, before I came barging in asking questions.
So, I want to have smooth 16bit dimming, and I figured out how to do that in the Simple Desk.
I created a fixture with a defined coarse and fine channel, and if I manually set the first channel to 1 and slide the second one from 0-255 I get 255 steps from for every 1 step - yay 16bits!
I do not however know how to achieve that in a sequence - how to make the sequence go 255 steps on the 2nd channel for every 1 step on the 1st channel.
I only know how to do it manually on the Simple Desk.
How is it possible to get 65,536 steps from black to full brightness in a sequence?
Please, help.
All the best
