GigBAR 2 second par not showing when added to group

Hi all,

I am watching videos and slowly learning QLC+. I was making progress, but now I am stuck.

I can control all my lights, have made scenes and I have also made an RGB matrix.

I have 2x Chauvet 4Bar Quad and 1 GigBar 2.

So here is the problem.........When I make an RGB matrix and add my 3 fixtures the 2nd par on the GigBar 2 will not show up. It only shows 9 pars instead of 10. Technically it is par 1 that is not working, but it seems the pars and derbys read from right to left instead of left to right. Not a big deal at this point. I will want to reverse this at some point though in the future.

Everything looks correct that I know of. Not sure what else to look at. QLC+ sees both pars because they both work outside of the RGB matrix and I can control them individually.

If anyone could help I would really appreciate it! I will attach the .qxw

You did not include your custom fixtures - so we cannot test.

Sorry about that. This is super easy to replicate.

Start a new workspace.
Add a Gigbar2 as a fixture. It is in the fixture list
Right click and add Gigbar 2 to a new fixture group
Click on the new fixture group folder.
You will see only one par show up.

I will attach screenshot and .qxw

This is the same problem as viewtopic.php?p=64818#p64818 - the fixture definition does not have heads defined.
IOW, the definition is wrong.

Hi and thank you for trying to help. This is not the same problem though.

If you load the GigBAR Move fixture definition that is updated and listed in the other thread, add it to a Fixture Group and then click on the Fixture group folder you get the same result. Only one par shows up.

If the heads were not defined neither would show up. Also the 2 pars on my GigBAR 2 work perfectly fine outside of creating the Fixture Group and even inside the Fixture Group 1 par does work and works when creating an RGB matrix.

I also double checked the Definition against the manual and it is setup properly. I also checked the GigBAR 2 definition against the updated Move definition and the first 23 channels are identical.

For some reason, when adding the GigBAR 2 to a Fixture Group, the Fixture Group is breaking the second par, but only on the GigBAR 2.

If you look at the screenshot I attached in the original post you can see only one head showing up. There should be 2.

If anybody knows a fix I would greatly appreciate it.

It is the same problem, and something went wrong with what you did in your experiments.

I just added the two heads to the GigBAR 2 definition (the matching one, not the MOVE from the other thread), installed it to my user fixture folder and restarted QLC+. It simply overrides the installed version by the one in the user folder.

I can happily add 2 GigBAR 2 to the same or separate universe(s), add them to a fixture group in 1 row and 4 columns, and see there GB#1 H1, GB#1 H2, GB#2 H1, GB#2 H2 as expected.

Find attached my modified version.

Thank you sooooooooo much!!!!!

I guess I am not quite understanding what is happening. Why do you need to "define the heads" a second time? I am a little lost. If the fixture definition is built according to the dmx channels in the manual why does it not work? Sorry, I am a complete noob and would like to understand how this works.

I'm really confused how you can add more channels than there are channels. In the definition you fixed there are 36 channels defined, but the fixture is only 23 channels.

Let's say you have 4 lightbulbs in your room and you want to control all 4 independent, you need 4 switches.
Multi-fixtures have more than 1 light source. And for these to work (control them individually) you have to define them inside the fixture definition. These are called 'heads'.

You don't add more channels, you 'group' them with the use of heads. R1 G1 B1 -> head 1, R2 G2 B2 -> H2 and so on
