After wizard setup Simple Desk works, Virtual Console does not

EDIT: Instead of hiding my shame I'm adding the solution for the benefit of anyone else who has the same dumb question. The Virtual Console works fine, but the default buttons change single parameters like light color... without changing the intensity. So, I was changing colors and gobos without actually telling the light to turn on. Once I added dimmer slider and turned it up, the light came to life.

#################

I am sure this is an extremely basic question, but I need a hand to get over this hump.

My setup is a generic FTDI rs485 controller and one ADJ Pocket Pro, a fixture which is in the QLC+ library. I selected the DMX controller in the inputs/outputs and the Output for Universe 1, and it seems to be configured correctly.

I then added my Pocket Pro fixture, and then used the Functions wizard mode to add a function list and a pre-made Virtual Console. So far so good.

Here's what is confusing me: the Simple Desk sliders work and I can control the light position, gobos, etc. Cool. But the nice pre-made Virtual Console does not function. When I put the Virtual Console in Play mode and mash the buttons, the fixture doesn't respond.

I am sure I am missing a simple configuration option somewhere that will active the console... thanks in advance if you can point me in the right direction.

If something doesn't work - check the values sent to the DMX bus by using the monitor.
If you had looked, you would have seen values for gobo's, color wheels, ... changing, but not the master intensity.
But hey :) you learned it the hard way.

I didn't mention it but that is the way I figured it out. But I also just had a basic misunderstanding of how things worked. This was my first fixture, first interface, first everything.

Hi!
I seem to have a similar situation. I get to move sliders in the virtual console just fine with OSC. And when I move the sliders in the Simple Desk my lights are working accordingly. But the Virtual Console doesnt seem to affect the Simple Desk at all and I dont understand how to make it.
I followed a fast and easy tutorial on line about this and he got it working just fine, but not for me.

The solution might be very basic, but Im new to the software and need some hellp :-)

best
Morten

This might be a misunderstood concept of QLC+. Maybe this might be better enlightened.
* Simple desk: helps you to quickly send some values to some channels. You might use groups and scenes mimicking the analogue simple DMX desks. Faders equal channels.
Be aware that Simple desk overrules whatever is going on. See below.
* Virtual Console holds the true power of QLC+. Using scenes, using faders, using frames, controlling chasers, applying EFX on top of static scenes, ... you name it.
But again: if channels are active in Simple Desk (notice the red crosses below the faders) they overrule whatever goes on in Virtual Console.

So Morten, verify that no faders are active in Simple Desk and you are on the go. Have fun ;)
