Hey .. so yea .. pushing limits again, but hoping someone else has hit this one.
Our stage design requires several different levels of RGB Panels at different heights facing the audience. Everything from 8x64 steps to some diamond-shaped backdrop features with LEDs at 45-degree angles. I want to map those "in-space" such that I can have a single Fixture Group that I can then run RGB Matrix functions against it and perspective is (mostly) maintained. The last time I did this I was able to create a Fixture Group, define the group height and width; and select the RGB Panel rows in the right order to create the "view" on the stage and it worked great. This time .. given the levels and 45's and such .. won't be able to do that; so was wondering if/how anyone else has attempted this?
I am considering writing some simple GUI tooling to ingest a showfile, and be able to create Fixture Groups from RGB Panels this way .. sort of like some of the commercial apps do .. to map the stage, but before I invested the time to do that .. wanted to see if anyone else had come up with a snazzy way to map RGB Panels into Fixture Groups?
FWIW .. I think this "Feature" would be AMAZING for QLC 5+ .. I've used the idea to pixel map both effects and looping GIF animations .. which can add a lot to a show. If I get the time and a dead winter this year .. I may try to integrate something like https://github.com/projectM-visualizer/projectM into this idea to really extend what we can do.... but my c++ skilz would have to improve.
