Novation LaunchPad Mini [MK3]

Hello!

Here is the Fixture Definition for the "Novation LaunchPad Mini [MK3]". It is based on the Fixture Definition for "Novation LaunchPad Pro" made by Nate Doyon (many thanks!). The major difference between both devices is the channel order and the Key/Pad names.

Curiously seems both devices has the same internal (logical) key mapping. But some logical keys are not wired to an physical button. Therefore are some "dead" channels in the Fixture Definition.

EDIT: Added the missing physical Informations. Weight and Power Consumption are not provided by the Manufacturer. DMX Connector changed from 3-Pin to "Other" because it's USB. I think the Fixture Definition File specification and the Validator should be extended to cover modern Devices, esp. USB Input Devices like that.

I'm totally new in both QLC+ and the Novation Launchpad Mini MK3.
I cannot get it to work to have my controller connected.
The video I watched [youtube]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kb_ciAgGDm8&t=55s[/youtube] was for a Novation Launchpad Pro, but the setup button to put the device in 'Live mode' is not there.

Can anyone help please?

I had my Problems too, but now (2022-11-10) It Works ;-)

Windows (I actually dont use anything else)
In Actually Version of QLC+ the Input-Profile of Novation LaunchPad Mini MK3 is Included

# FILES
!!! Set your Username instead of [Username] !!!
* Novation-LaunchPad-Mini-MK3.qxf -> C:\Users\[Username]\QLC+\Fixtures

The following File Only If you use an older Version of QLC+. Actually it is already Included.
* Novation-LaunchPadMiniMK3.qxi -> C:\Users\[Username]\QLC+\InputProfiles

# Midiconnection
Launchpad has to be connected to the Computer

# Launch QLC+
or use Input-Hotplugging then you know what to do

# Inputs/Outputs
1. Select seperate Universe for Control-Data of this MIDI-Device
In Mapping-Tab Select "Input"-Checkbox of "LPMiniMK3 MIDI" (to receive Data from Launchpad)
In same Universe:
Select "Feedback"-Checkbox of "LPMiniMK3 MIDI" (to send ColorData to Launchpad via Feedback in VirtualConsole) and

doubleclick the Devicename "LPMiniMK3 MIDI" for popup the Configuration-Window
at "Qutputs" in Row "LPMiniMK3 MIDI"
- keep MidiChannel 1
- change Mode to "Note Velocity"
- change Init Message to "Novation Launchpad Mini MK3 Developer Mode"
- close the Configuration-Window
"Note Velocity" is necessary to sent ColorData to Launchpad via Feedback in VirtualConsole
and the Developer Mode will be sent at the Start of QLC+, so you can Use all Buttons in QLC+

2. Select seperate Universe
for Color-Control this MIDI-Device with Faders and FastSelect, like a normal RGB-Spot. This is not necessary, but easier for me.

Select "Output"-Checkbox of "MIDIOUT2 (LPMiniMK3 MIDI)" (to send ColorData to Launchpad via Faders in SimpleDesk or Functions)

doubleclick the Devicename "MIDIOUT2 (LPMiniMK3 MIDI)" for popup the Configuration-Window
at "Qutputs" in Row "MIDIOUT2 (LPMiniMK3 MIDI)"
- change Mode to "Note Velocity"
- keep MidiChannel 1
- keep Init Message at "Nothing"
- close the Configuration-Window

#Control Launchpad-Colors in SimpleDesk
look at 4:48 of https://youtu.be/kb_ciAgGDm8?t=287 but Mini has less Buttons so the first 10 Channels are not used.

#VirtualConsole-Button
activate "Custom Feedback" and use in
- lower value: Number of Background-Color
- higher value: Number of Activated-Color (usually white: 6)
Youcan find the Color-Numbers in SimpleDesk - ChannelDropdown. Like ColorSelection of nomally Spots.

#This is another way without using "Feedback" in Universum:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mX0Uoj98OZU
and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bluyccis77Q

Have Fun!
