Audio Trigger to use with Windows 10 audio output

Hi my name is Steve. I'm a newbie to QLC+. Just wanted you guys to know I think this software is great! Thanks so much. I have really searched the internet for help with the audio trigger feature. I could not find anything that show a step by step on how get to it work on a windows 10 OS. i'm not seeing any spectrum bars move at all when I run it. I have the volume all the way up as well on the computer. Sure like this feature. I hoping someone can point me in the right direction or let me know what I doing wrong.
This is my setup:
Surface Pro 4
QLC 4.12.2
Windows 10
Realtek High Definition Audio(SST) (the surface pro has a build in mic)
I have tried the settings in the input/output audio input/output as default. Also the settings of Realtek High Definition Audio(SST). I'm using a wav file. I put in a frame as well with a virtual button that starts the audio. Must be missing something.

Well one thing I have found in the the configuration section in the input/output Level monitor is working with the sound. But I'm not sure if that is is monitoring the input. It is set for 44100 and mono. I also read that the input levels on the spectrum bar are very low. I'm not sure if that is the problem here. I also tried the mic I get nothing to the audio trigger. I changed the input the recording device in windows to the speaker as a default and that did not work. Maybe i need a different system to do this with.

Between your two posts above, in June, the audio trigger input levels (actually the FFT code for segmenting audio input into frequency bands) got fixed and merged to the master branch on Github.

But I'm sorry to say there's no new release yet, and the latest Windows
test build is from March.
I'm on Linux normally but I'll boot to my Win10 partition later this morning and see if I can make a step by step guide quickly...
Regarding your Windows sound setup:
Input of recording device set to Speaker sounds just wrong to me, that should rather be some sort of Mic or Line (capture) Input, a speaker is a playback/output device
What is your actual mic, external plugged to the mini jack socket (headset or just mic), builtin notebook mic, something else even?

Hi again,
I'm in Win10 and have loaded your workspace now, and it works right away for me. In QLC+ I/O tab/right table audiotab, default device is chosen for both input and output. Your file doesn't have light scenes so I assigned the volume bar to your dimmer in universe 2, and I see the bars moving and DMX output in the monitor, controlled by my laptop mic levels. (my current default recording device in Windows)
There's just one peculiarity about the audio trigger that I'm not sure if it's mentioned anywhere in the docs and you are aware of:
you'll have to switch it to active everytime you enter Operating mode in the Virtual console. Did you click the checkmark icon in the upper left corner? The widget only works while this is engaged, i.e. shows green color, not gray.

Thank you, Thank you ,Thank you! It turned out the icon on the upper left corner was the trick. I could hardly could see that it came on it would be nice to have more of a contrast when it goes on. I thought clicking it turn it on. Geez! There was one other thing I had to do to get it to working and the was set the audio not for default. I switched to the mic and the speaker instead and it work!
Wish there was a level control for the input is it seems a little low as I have read about.
Great info also I will look into the FFT code.. cool stuff!
Next,,,,, I would like to setup a external audio source and use OSC to start everything but that is a whole new thing. Now to get it to work with the lights first.
