So can't tell you how many times i've had to chase a weird setting backwards through Virtual Desk -> Chase -> Combination -> Function to determine what is causing an issue. For tracking troubleshooting some ideas:
  • Virtual Console widget that could display the active functions which are running at any time.
  • Option on the Simple Desk to show what functions are driving a channel at any time
  • --debug log file showing each function being applied to which fixtures

HI,

I'm reactivating this post because I'm facing a problem and I can't find the cause.

The PAN and TILT sliders of a fixture do not keep their position when I call a function (in an already large project).

A log file would be ideal with the following information:
- timestamps (date, time with milliseconds)
- number of the function/chaser/EFX:... and the action action (start / stop) carried out
- OR fixture number and channel number and the value sent
- who started the function: (virtual console button id / simple console / chaser id / EFX id....)

Example that could have the contents of this log file:

27.08.2022 08.39.45.135 chaser 142 started by button 36
27.08.2022 08.39.45.215 fixture 12 channel 4 set 255 by chaser 142
27.08.2022 08.39.45.222 fixture 12 channel 5 set 0 by chaser 142
27.08.2022 08.39.45.230 fixture 12 channel 6 set 0 by chaser 142
27.08.2022 08.39.47.215 fixture 12 channel 4 set 0 by chaser 142
27.08.2022 08.39.47.221 fixture 12 channel 5 set 255 by chaser 142
27.08.2022 08.39.47.229 fixture 12 channel 6 set 0 by chaser 142
27.08.2022 08.39.48.587 chaser 142 stopped by script 215
27.08.2022 08.39.48.712 fixture 12 channel 4 set 0 by script 215
27.08.2022 08.39.48.815 fixture 12 channel 5 set 0 by script 215
27.08.2022 08.39.48.922 fixture 12 channel 6 set 0 by script 215

To facilitate research, the ideal would be to store this information in the form of a table (the CSV file format is ideal).

I noticed that multiple functions could be named with the same name. However, when you create your script, these functions have a unique number.
This unique number cannot be modified by the user but it would be nice to be able to know this unique number when looking for a function in a list of choices.
You must also see this number when editing the function.
This improvement would bring a lot of help when creating a project.

I really hope that these improvements will be made because this software is very well made.

Thank you for your attention.
Best regards, Bastin Fabrice
