Controlling the speed of a chaser using a slider

Hi experts,

actually I'm reconfiguring my complete light equipment and do some improvements to get more flexibility.

Normally I use ArtNet and the beats to move to the next step within a chaser for light functions.
Actually I try some fixed values for "step in", "step out" and "duration".

Is it possible to use here a slider to change the values manually to keep it a little bit flexible?

Bye

You can control Fade In, Fade Out and duration with a Speed Dial Widget in VC. An Speed Dial Widget can be controlled with an external midi controller.

Ok, I have tested it quickly, exactly what I want, great, thank you.
But I have a little bit problems how I now can switch the chaser between this manual conrtol and a control by the beats transported by ArtNet, do you have another hint for me?

Maybe I could configure the external input from the tap-button to the beats from ArtNet, but then I think this will be used ever even if I change the value by dial.

If you want to filter message flow - use a frame and en-/disable it.
2 frames:
Frame A) button bound to your artnet input, output to a virtual dimmer in a loopback universe
Frame B) slider as @sbenejam suggested

the tap button of the widget bound to this virtual dimmer and your slider chnging the speed.
By selecting the frame (by enabling it) now you can choose which control does what...

First I have tried it using a solo frame with two of this Speed Dial Widgets, but it did not work, I do not know why.

Now I have found your answer here and use two normal frames which I can activate as you described. This seems to work, but I have to deactivate the first, when I want to use the second one and the other way round it's the same.

Then I tried to put these two frames within a solo frame hoping that then only one would be active and if I activate the other, that then the other would be deactivated, but it isn't so.

Actually I'm searching for a method to switch from manual control via slider and automatic control by the beats coming over ArtNet with only one or if it is needed two buttons of my Akai Apc Mini, so maybe I hope I can do this via script?

Finished!

Using a solo frame with separate pages (I hope it's named the same for "Seiten") is the solution, everything is working like I want.
Thank you for your support ... but I have still another problem, take a look at my next question, please!

Yes you can. With Loopbacks.

In Fixtures, make a dummy Dimmer on Universe 2. Dimmer #1

In the Input/Outputs Tab.
Set Universe 2, Output to Loopback 1 and Check Passthrough.
Set Universe 1 Input to Loopback 1

Make a Slider in the Virtual Console.
Set it to Level and check off Dimmer #1 Universe 2.

Double click the timer you want to set. In the Input settings Tab use the Range portion and click Choose. You can also set the range of the slider in seconds.
Choose loopback 1 and Double Click Here to set it too. 1 for the dimmer channel.

(small warning)
Keep loopback channels inside its own universe. When you make a mistake, sending out DMX or Artnet, your loopback universe will cause troubles.

So Universe #2 in and output set to loopback.
(don't use passthrough)
