Hi everyone, intermediate QLC+ user here.

I have used QLC+ quite a bit, and worked through all beginner tutorials. I'm interested to see if there's any tutorials online that would be more geared towards intermediate - advanced users; showing things like workflow, techniques of building the virtual console, and how to get the most out of the software in the the fastest, most effective way. I have yet to find much of this kind of content online.

Thanks!

Once you get the basics, the workflow is dictated by what kind of production you have to do. A setup for a play (theatre) is completely different than one for a live performance and a setup for a band playing is also completely different. (The christmas show or architectural projects demand even another kind of setup)
And on top, the tools you like to have to complete your light show are a matter of personal taste.

So one could invest some time to make an introduction to a timecode show, or a busking mode show, or a theater show - but then again this probably will please only a selected crowd.
I once wrote a lengthy post about how a busking setup could look like.

90% of my gigs are live busking. So live performances without the LJ knowing what is going to come, unknown knowledge about solo's f.i.
I study the riders, I listen to demo tapes, I try to imagine how the venue will look like, I compose a list of fixtures (within budget) to be rented, ... and then the workload for QLC+ starts.
From absolute scratch to working environment with say 32+ fixtures (spot, beam, wash 1, wash 2, blinders, smoke, profile spots) and sound to light, a fader hardware and button matrix hardware, I need approx 7h of workload before the show. Budget wise QLC+ is friendly but because of this workload it hits the limit of budget. Other desks are way more expensive - the billing hours before showtime are way less. So it's a question of finding this balance.

IMHO it all comes to these basics:
* statics,
* dynamics,
* EFX,
* control surface
* gimmicks

One of the articles I wrote here: http://www.qlcplus.org/forum/viewtopic. ... ics#p48286
If you search for statics / dynamics you'll discover some more.
