[to moderator: sorry for double post, I found the right section, I guess ]
Hi all, I hope everything's all right back home. I didn't see "presentation section" so.. here I am.
I'm wondering about the ergonomics, feeling and the robustness of two midi controlers I can afford :
-The Akai APC 40 MK2.
-The Berhinger x-touch compact.
I think they are - now- a second-hand generation affordable princed controllers for lighting purpose. Isn't it ?
considering the post below talking about the x-touch mapping, it is also done for the akai controler ?
Personaly, I would like to make small / middle sized shows with LEDs PAR and automated fixtures, using the 3D renderer engine as a first step.
I'm just going do be limited in 1 universe ( I have an enttec usb/dmx pro mk2 and If I connect my controler to it, I couldn't use the second universe Is that true ? ).
I already work with dmx using traditionals machines and fixtures.
Thank you for enlightening my lanter !
Bye !
Choice between 2 midi controlers

It all comes with personal flavour and taste.
Some will use the one, others the other.
How can we know what your idea is about having a wing at your disposal and what you want to do with it.
I personally do 90% busking shows and use a BFC2000 & Novation Launchpad pro. This suits my demands and wishes.
I have worked over 3 years and during the learning curve I added hardware to my platform... gradually.
If you are looking for an answer: this combination will work for you ... nope.
The behringer x-touch has an advantage with it's motorised faders. (when you switch from one page to the other - you get feedback on the levels set). But again... will you have to have more than 10 faders in control? All depends on ...
The Akai looks appealing if you are after a lot of buttons and functions. (Color matrix f.i.)
If I compare with my setup then the X-touch would replace my BFC2000 and the Akai maybe the launchapd (which even has more buttons for the buck). I don't like Akai's short faders. Especially in theater you need long faders to fine tune looks. So here we are again ... what suits your needs the best - don't ask me (us).
You saying is completely false because the wings (hardware) use an USB connection and do not interfere with the Enttec pro 2nd port. Which is DMX and not MIDI and even then you need a specially crafted header (with faults inside -> you will have to be able to solder !!) before you can use MIDI.
But you don't need MIDI because they connect over USB ...
I might seem to be harsh - maybe I am...
Learning things is a step by step mechanism.
I can sell you my laptops, touchscreens, hardware + wings, pixelcontrollers and pre programmed shows .... and then?
I assure you the bought combination will work (if you follow my logic and specific setup) - but will it suit your needs?
NoNo

And there we go already ... you assume something (above statement) without knowing what is going on.

All electric machines work on smoke... when the smoke escapes... they don't work anymore
