LTP and Virtual/Master fader

Can someone please help me understand this behaviour. Thanks.

I've created a simple test project with one Generic RGB fixture at address 1 on universe 1. Everything else is at default conditions.

In the Simple Desk screen I can push up the RGB channels as required and then use the Master/Virtual fader on the left of the desk to raise and lower the overall brightness of all three RGB channels in the single fixture. I can observe this working on a real fixture and in the Monitor (2d and 3d).

Now, if I change the fixture's channels to LTP, the Master fader no longer changes the brightness of the fixture.

The same behaviour occurs in the Virtual Console so I'm guessing it's my understanding that's wrong.

I'm not totally new to DMX and I understand the basic idea behind LTP and HTP but I'm struggling to get my head around this.

Can anyone enlighten me please?

Thanks

[edit: previous answer of mine was complete rubbish]

The GrandMaster controls intensity channels only. Since you change to LTP this denotes that you are no longer working with intensity channels.
Makes sense because take f.i. a pan channel (typical LTP): It holds a value so the position is fix. Changing the GrandMaster would change its position. Same goes with f.i. a gobo wheel. Changing GrandMaster would leave the gobo wheel in between gobos... unwanted behavior that is.

Makes more sense now?
