Fade in / Fade out - became strobe!!!

Very likely knuckle-head (=myself!!!) who've done something..
Last gig, halfway in, all of a sudden, loads of the scenes and chasers I've created became flashing and annoying midway during a live concert.
Eventually, I've got around to set everything up for testing to see what's happening;
My led par's, 4 of them, 2 on the left, 2 on the right, have changed the fade in / fade out to a flashing pattering when using any fade in/fade out timing.
IF it was 1 par - I'd suspect the par to be faulty but now, it's all 4 of them and exactly the same!
Can't see why or how really.
1. Using the pars with 0 delay in or our as in on/off = 100% ok
2. Using the pars with say a 1 sec delay in/out = strobe effect instead
I hope that I pressed some obvious "very wrong button to press" or something.....cause I really can't see what's causing this.
the behavior sure points to a HW issue, but then, all 4 and split between 2 different stands ?
