This is for the website is there a way if I write a post that I get an email saying someone responded to it and if I reply to someone it emails me also.

Do you mean "forum"?
You could ask in the phpBB forums, but I think phpBB has a "subscribe" button to receive updates on a thread.
Click on the wrench icon and then Subscribe topic.
