Using midi fader to control one generic dimmer

I am having massive issues just setting upp this really basic task.

I have a Korg Nanokontrol2 up and running no problem. I can control grand master fader no problem when I connect that to a fader or knob.

The problem is when I wanna set up a virtual slider and couple that with my generic dimmer. I am using the "level" tab and just patching them together. Is there something I have missed? Do I need to create a scene and somehow get that together with the slider? The slider is slightly faded grey all the time. I have been struggling with this extremely basic problem for weeks. Been searching the internet and cannot for the life of me find how to do this simple task.

Excuse my rant but this is my last resort. If anyone know a way this can be done and are willing to write down some simple steps, I would be eternally grateful.

1. Always post your qxw file and any custom fixture files, input profiles etc. so that people that want to help don't have to guess details.

2. Use two universes: one for the dimmer and another for the nanokontrol.
