Meta-Programming / Using Variables

Hey there!
I use QLC+ with a Midi-Input to control Lights in a small club.
Instead of full programs i prefer building blocks to combine for more flexibility and variety. So i have some colours and colour-combinations to choose from, some movements from slow to fast, some chasers and a button to switch on a fast shutter on my fixtures.
Since i want separate brightness-control, the chasers control the Shutter-Channel. Unfortunately that collides with the button to switch the Strobe-Function on.
If i switch on the strobe-effect, the fixtures show the strobe-effect until the next chaser-step kicks in and sets the shutter back to "open".
Is there a way to set two variables like "shutter-value for fixture-group 1" and "shutter-value for fixture-group 2" and let the chaser not send a fixed shutter-value of 255 but the values stored in the variables? Then my strobe-button could just change the variables.
Or am i blind and there is another way?
